WHAT TO WEAR WITH STRIPED TROUSERS

Here I sit surrounded by mountains of dirty laundry, the ironing board groaning under the weight of unloved clothes waiting to be pressed back to life & the dining table papered with a mixture of receipts, invoices & kids homework. Ah the joys of building work right?
Could have done without the water leak in the kitchen that’s for sure siiigh
Yep that’s right, we have had a slow leaking pipe for god knows how long (totally unrelated to the loft work) that we discovered last weekend. As a result we I cannot use the washing machine.
Consequently we now also have to re-lay the entire ground floor, how exciting? NOT… Arrrrrgh
Get me outta here!!!
Which is why as soon as the sun came out I hot footed it to the park for an ice cream & a few Spring shots of my awesome Acne Studios trousers.
I’ve been dying to wear these sensational trousers since the last time I posted about them ages ago.

Unsure what to wear with striped trousers, I threw on my brightest t-shirt & favourite heels

I’m pretty happy with this look & the red of my Prada sunnies (also worn here) tie it all together perfectly.
Some days we just need a splash of colour to make everything seem brighter wouldn’t you agree? Of course the ice cream helped too wink

To help alleviate the stress, my darling friend Suzy has invited us over for dinner tonight. The children always play so nicely we hardly see them all evening – leaving us to catch up & have a laugh over a bottle of wine…. & loads of laundry hahahaha
Girlfriends are great aren’t they? Did you catch my recent post about my new Blogger Besties? Lots of terrific stuff happening there, will fill you in next time.

‘Til then stay bright, Mx

Ah, the joy of house renovation:) We meant to redo the whole ground floor last year, but kind of ended up redoing only the kitchen and the hallway. After a year, we still have tape on the staircase in the hope that it will be painted one day. So, poor you, I can totally relate 🙂 Beautiful pictures as always! xx Abby

No way! I’d go mad if there was still tape reminding me I had to keep painting. Hate painting so much, almost worth paying someone this time but blimey it’s expensive. Probably will end up doing it myself so I can afford nice curtains, shall I pop over to do your stairs when I’m finished? 😉

Gorgeous sunny post, Miss! I love those striped trousers on you; they’re completely fabulous…especially when accessorised with ice cream! I can’t even start on the water damage issue; I’ve had it in the last two houses I’ve lived in. I still have to peel apart my previously waterlogged cookbook pages, as a reminder of those dark days. I hope yours gets sorted quickly! xx

Oh bloody hell really? I’d take that as a bonus – hate to cook me hahahaha

Michelle how flippin’ awesome do you look in striped flares…??!! Teaming them with a red t-shirt was genius and the perfect way to dress them down 🙂

So sorry to hear about your water woes – water is the bane of our lives in our house. If anything goes wrong it’s bound to be water-related: Floods, broken pipes, broken showers, leaking boilers… the list goes on and on. I want a house that doesn’t have a water jinx!!

    Have a great weekend sweetie

That’s interesting Catherine, my plumber said water is very clever at finding places to hide. I don’t think there’s any escaping it sooner or later it happens to us all. Although you’ve had well & truly your fair share by the sounds of it, poor thing.
      Enjoy a dry weekend 😉

This is such a fresh look and the contrast between the Tee and those killer heels is genius.

Oh poor old you, it’s a particular kind of hell living through build works; you know it will all be worth it in the end but it doesn’t feel like it at the time. It’s interesting because you and I often start from a similar point with clothes but you always push a little bit further than I do – I would never have thought of pairing that t-shirt with those trousers but it looks great. I think you’re giving women over 40 some really good inspiration here for adding a youthful twist to classic chic. The stripes, the vented cut at the ankle, the shoes and of course your annoyingly enviable figure make your legs look as though they go on forever. You look really sassy. x

Oh Nikki I think I love you – “youthful twist” has made my day! Bloody hell scrap that… WEEK!

Did you know I bought the trousers 2nd hand on Ebay & had to take them in so they’d fit? I’d missed them when Acne brought them out so I literally scoured Ebay for months chasing pair after pair – although they were very rare. I finally decided to go for this pair even though I knew I’d have to run them in. I get like that – you know, obsessed 😉
As for the Rossi Plexis, well they are awesome aren’t they?
