HOW TO BE COSY IN A JUMPER WHEN YOU NEED TO LOOK GLAM

Don’t you love those evenings snuggled up on the sofa wearing sweat pants & your favourite cosy jumper watching box set T.V? There may be a bottle glass of wine involved or just as appealing, a mug of hot chocolate. But what happens when you have plans to go out & all you really want to do is stay in?
I find myself in this predicament more often during Winter, simply because it’s so bloody cold & unappealing outside. I can’t think of anything I’d least rather do than get dressed up & go out! Also I’m basically a lazy mare.
However there has been a committment made to a friend so I’m not going to cancel. Just by the way my biggest pet hate is people who cancel the last minute! It’s usually a repeat offender, someone who doesn’t see the harm in constantly letting a friend down. I’ve been known to drop a friendship on that basis it winds me up so badly. Perhaps that sounds harsh? You see I believe time is our greatest asset so giving it to someone is a tremendous gift especially as a parent because that time initially belongs to my children.
Anyway I digress….Apologies for time-wasting hehehe wink
Back to the outfit crisis – These days if I venture out into the cold night air I’m going to wear a cosy jumper, so how can I make it look glam? First off be sure it’s phenomenal quality, preferably 100% cashmere like this beautiful Marks & Spencer jumper I’m wearing. Then add some sparkle or shine as I have with my Zara pink foil pleated skirt & sequins clutch. Equally important is keeping my feet & legs warm so my ancient stretch fabric knee-high boots come out of hiatus. These comfortable boots manage to maintain the glam factor with their sexy kitten heel & super pointed toe. Although I probably wouldn’t wear these leather knee-high boots with this outfit as they’re too heavy in appearance, if that makes sense?

Another way to wear it

Yes that’s correct this exact outfit changes beyond compare simply by tucking the jumper in! Because my cashmere jumper is incredibly fine gauge it isn’t too bulky to tuck even though it’s quite long & over-sized. Incidentally I’m wearing the UK size 12 which is almost slightly too big however I’d like to also be able to wear it with jeans & trousers so it covers my butt, hence why I went with a 12 rather than 10. Additionally being over-sized yet cocoon shaped gives it a slouchy, informal look that’s popular at the moment.
Obviously this second look isn’t suitable for everyone although it does show how versatile this particular style of jumper is. As for the cashmere quality? Well I’m thrilled to say it is exceptional for the price. The feeling against my skin is heavenly, honestly like cuddling kittens.

I couldn t agree with you more! And I also let a friendship go because of numerous canceling! My time is precious too! I love your outfit because I love pleated skirts. I wore a pleated skirt with grey and pink last week on the blog! I need to get me a pink one!

That’s my kind of going-out outfit – at last it would be if I ever went out in the evening 😉 Really beguiling mix of colours & textures too, the epitome of cosy, relaxed glamour! X

I adore this whole outfit. The pink and grey colour palette is so beautiful. The touch of sparkle in the clutch and the skirt is so pretty. I love it styled both ways, tucked in, and left out. Perfect styling and photography… brave, ma belle. Pretty much anyone can wear this cosy and chic-glam look. xx

Michelle, love this soft color palette.. One of my favorites blush pink and grey, and those kitten heels are the perfect height! The skirt reminds me of your velvet soft blush dress from Zara. The cocoon coat is a beautiful final touch that seems just right for mild temps.
    Enjoy your Sunday

I loooooove this jumper! I usually wear variations of grey (all fifty of them 😉) when lounging at home so this one’s a perfect fit. You look amazing Michelle, as usual! xx Abby

This is one of my favourite colour palettes and you carry it off beautifully, Michelle! I just LOVE this whole ensemble – I’m a bit of a lazy so and so too so I can totally empathise with you (at least winters here in the Algarve tend to be considerably sunnier than the UK – although, having said that, it’s bloody miserable today lol)

Perhaps it’s getting older too, less of a thrill? What I like about this look is the uplifting colour palette. You know how easy it is to reach for black when you don’t really want to go out? Black jumper & jeans, black boots & black coat. No that’s not helping the situation, I need softness in shades & there’s no better than grey & pink right? xx

I too find it so difficult to get out of the house after dark and to put on anything fancier than my winter slouchers. I tried three times to dress up in velvet at Christmas and I failed thricely! usually ended up in a dress and cardi, going for coze.
Love your outfit and the soft pinks and grey. Didn’t realise marks is doing slouchy cashmere, isn’t in our local store yet.

It’s not in your local M&S that’s a pain Mary? I find Marks are rather inconsistent with their stock distribution actually. I have had the same issue with my local shop so now I just order online. If I don’t like it or the size is wrong I take it back to the shop myself rather than post. Just so you know, the sizing is bang on.

Lovely outfits, the sweaters look really good on you. And great photography. Are you lucky enough to have a partner who does them? Suzi, in hot, sweltering Australia! x

Thanks Jodie but you know it’s a trick of the eye because “the belt” is actually the waist band of the skirt! I wish it was a belt though I’d be wearing it with everything 😉
